Pedagogical and Academic Support for Children Who Struggle to Develop Consistent Study Habits
Your child may understand the material well, yet still struggle to start studying, put off homework, or fail to develop a consistent study routine despite having worked with private tutors before. In these cases, what they need may not simply be more tutoring.
I work especially with children and teenagers who have the potential to succeed academically but struggle to translate that potential into results, maintain their motivation, or develop consistent study habits.
My goal is not simply to teach academic content, but to help students take responsibility, build their own study routine, and gradually become more independent learners.

Who Do I Work With?
I work especially with children and teenagers who:
My Story
I’m Timur İlman.
As one of four children of a Swiss mother and a Turkish father, I grew up in a bilingual and bicultural family. After many years of studying and working in Austria, I chose to continue my life and professional career in Türkiye.
After graduating from the Austrian St. George’s College in Istanbul, I completed my degree in Political Science at the University of Vienna. During my university years, I realized that working directly with people and supporting them through their development felt more meaningful to me. This led me to change my professional direction and complete my training in social pedagogy in Vienna.
During my social pedagogy training, I completed both theoretical and practical work in child development, learning processes, behavior management, communication, and individualized support.
I then worked as a social pedagogue at SOS Children’s Villages Austria, where I gained hands-on experience supporting children and teenagers facing challenges related to attention, emotional and anger regulation, adjustment, and behavior.
Today, I use this experience particularly to support children who have struggled to make progress through a conventional private tutoring approach.
The Experience Behind My Approach
For me, pedagogical and academic support is about more than teaching subject matter or completing homework.
When working with children, I place great importance on first building a strong and trusting relationship. At the same time, learning to take responsibility, respect clear boundaries, and follow through on commitments are equally important parts of the process.
My approach is therefore neither based on a rigid, traditional teacher-student relationship nor on a lack of structure and expectations.
I aim to build a warm and trusting relationship with my students while setting clear boundaries when needed, expecting age-appropriate responsibility, and consistently following up on the goals we set together.
My goal is not for a student to be able to study only when I am there. Over time, I want them to develop their own study routine and become increasingly capable of working independently.
My Services
Pedagogical Support
Individual support for children and teenagers in areas such as attention, motivation, responsibility, self-discipline, and personal development.
Academic Support
Individual support designed to address academic needs while helping students develop consistent study habits, take responsibility for homework, improve planning skills, and become more independent learners.
Language Education
Individual German and English support for children and teenagers aged 6–18, tailored to each student’s level and learning needs.
My Approach
Every child is different. That is why I do not believe the same method will work for every student.
I first focus on getting to know the student: what motivates them, where they struggle, and why they have difficulty maintaining a consistent study routine.
Building a relationship based on trust is important to me. At the same time, I expect students to take responsibility and follow through on the goals we agree on together.
My goal is not only short-term academic success. I want to help students gradually develop self-discipline, establish their own study routines, and become more independent in reaching their potential.
Let’s Take the First Step Together
If your child understands the material but struggles to study consistently, or if previous tutoring experiences have not produced the progress you were hoping for, we can discuss their situation together in an initial meeting.
We can look at your child’s strengths, challenges, and current study habits and develop an individualized support plan based on their needs.
